I received my bachelor’s degree from UCSD in religious studies. I went on to receive my master’s degree in educational counseling. I started off working with inner-city youth who were pregnant/ parenting and/ or drug-involved. For the last 9 years I have been a school counselor, primarily for at-risk populations. It is a rewarding and fun career. I love the variety of experiences I have everyday.
So much of my personal background is intertwined with my professional background. After all, I am a counselor! I take a holistic approach to counseling. I believe mental health requires a connection between mind, body, and spirit and as such I will encourage you to explore these three areas. I am a huge fan of alternative medicine including acupuncture, aromatherapy, and chiropractic. I like to incorporate Emotional Freedom Technique in my sessions whenever a client feels comfortable to do so, and I am an EMDR trained clinician. I was born in Brazil and I am blessed to be multi-ethnic. I have also had the opportunity to travel extensively abroad, which I feel adds to my social conscience. I love to sing, and I practice yoga and stand up paddle boarding for fun. I have a husband and two children who crack me up all the time.
